how can she compete against a boy

My daughter Elizabeth has been doing good here in Chicagoland. She's got a boy friend.

She's been athletic, but not here in Chicagoland
...But she's now in the school drama club, where she met Aaron.
They were in the spring play together last year...Snow White. He played the King and she, a tree;
...a talking tree, so she even had lines

He's a year older than her...in highschool...and they became fast friends.

At first, he was "her boyfriend". Lately it's "he's not my boyfriend...he's just a friend".

But fathers know that look...
fathers know better....

Now, she's crying
now she wants to move back to Pennsylvania;
now she can't compete.

He invited her to the local highschool coffee house.
"Who's going to be there?"
"Oh, just me and my friends, and people who like me, and people who hate me,
and Shane"
"Who's Shane?"
"My crush. Didn't I tell you? I'm bi-sexual."

She prided herself on tolerance. We even had thanksgiving dinner with her gay cousin.
One of our favorite tv shows is Will & Grace.
"It's funny how it's easy to be OK about gays, until it's you own friend" she says.

I tell Annie why Liz is so upset.

She doesn't know how to compete with a boy.
